Even though our spring break was cut short by two days this year, we still made time for lots of fun and even a road trip to Kansas City!
On Monday, Andrew and I joined Christian for lunch at school. He invited his friends Owen and Libby to seat with us.
After school, I took the boys to the Lake Bella Vista trail.
Andrew loved watching the ducks and Christian enjoyed pushing the stroller. ;)
It was a beautiful afternoon!
We even walked down to the Veterans Wall of Honor.

Wednesday, we headed to Kansas City for a few days! First stop...Fritz!
Christian says Fritz is his favorite restaurant! He loves the trains that deliver the food to the tables. He says their chicken nuggets are the BEST!

After Fritz, we went to the toy store at Crown Center so Christian could spend his "cash" (money from St. Patrick's Day and the tooth fairy).
He picked out a VW van, a small train and a toy for Andrew. So sweet.
We headed to Union Station to see Christian's favorite place in the whole world, the model train exhibit!
Since it was Andrew's nap time, I put him in the stroller and purchased a ticket to the Princess Diana exhibit while Jim and Christian looked at trains.
The exhibit was a timeline of Diana's life, with mementos from her childhood and her life as a princess. There were even home videos of when she was a little girl. Her crown and her wedding dress (with the 25 foot train) were on display. It was almost magical to be so close to the dress she wore on her wedding day. Several other memorable outfits from her wardrobe were on display. I was not allowed to take photographs in the exhibit but I was really glad I got to see it!
They had a few things on display outside the exhibit that I could take pictures of. I remember having these paper dolls.
Jim said he remember his Grannie having this Royal Wedding Album book.
After the Diana exhibit, Andrew and I met up with Jim and Christian to see the model trains together.
Andrew loved the trains!
They even had a fun play area of Lego trains!
Christian wanted a picture next to his favorite model train.
After spending the afternoon at Union Station, we headed back to our hotel. We stayed at the Homewood Suites (our fav hotel for family travel) in Overland Park. The hotel serves free dinner with compliementary beer and wine! Can't beat that deal! Especially with Andrew's early bedtime it worked out great for us.
Christian put together a new lego kit after dinner!
Jim and I watched some NCAA tournament basketball.
Jim even brought me bedtime snacks...
On Thursday, we killed some time checking out the Whole Foods Market before the Golfsmith store opened. Jim needed a new golf bag and wanted to look at clubs.

Then we headed to lunch at On the Border and strolled the Oak Park Mall.
Christian and I rode the double carousel and shopped while Jim found a comfy place to people watch while Andrew napped in the stroller.
Patrick met up with us at the mall then took us over to the Town Center Plaza in Leawood, KS.
Then Stacy and Pat suggested 810 Zone for dinner. It was a sport bar and grill, good for families with small kiddos as it was loud and no one seemed to notice Andrew's mini meltdown at the end of day! :)
We stayed with Pat and Stacy that night and watched the big upset of Duke losing to Arizona. We stayed up visiting way too late but luckily Andrew slept in the next day. :)
Friday morning, we headed to Sprint Center to see Toy Story 3 Disney on Ice!
The boys were so excited!
Andrew even let Mr. Pat put on his shoes. ;)

Both boys loved the show! The first half of the program, they performed favorite scenes and songs from Toy Story 1 & 2 then the 2nd half was Toy Story 3.
(Ken's hair was even molded plastic-haha!)
Jim and I enjoyed the show too. We both teared up at the end as Andy says good bye to his toys when he goes to college. ;)
What a fun family Spring Break trip to Kansas City! Christian says he wishes he could go to the model train exhibit every day. Until next time...;)
Andrew is just a few weeks away from turning 2! I can hardly believe it! These past two years have really flown by! He grows more every day and talking more too! His personality is so fun and lovable. He cracks me up constantly.
Christian just loves his baby brother so much. He is always wanting to love on him! He is so good to play and watch over Andrew-making sure he shows him the right way to put together a puzzle or hold his crayon...haha! Too cute.
The boys always like to jump onto my bed when I take the sheets out of the dryer and wrap themselves up to feel all warm and coozy.
