Alicia's Wedding Shower!

 On March 2nd, Kimberly and I hosted Alicia's wedding shower at Ann and Glen's house.

We had so many sweet and wonderful family and friends come to celebrate Will and Alicia getting married!

New year....New job!

Back in December, one of my favorite blogs, NWAMotherlode.com posted a position that they were needing a Director of Sales for their website advertising. It was a part time position with flexibility so I thought I would throw my name in the hat. ;) I have followed their blog since it started five years ago. I submitted my resume and I had an interview with Gwen and Shannon in January. After meeting with them during a lunch interview, they expressed their need for someone to help manage the advertisers and continue to find new businesses to advertise on their website. They also wanted to host a big event and needed someone to coordinate the event. 

It sounded just like something I would love to do! I could work from home, not pay for childcare and do what I do best...host a girls night out event! They wanted to host the first ever "mom prom" and I thought WOW! I have been the 'FAC" (Female Activities Coordinator) for my group of friends since college and put together our monthly girls night out events. So coordinate a HUGE event for all women in Northwest Arkansas sounded SO AWESOME! I was excited! 

Gwen and Shannon called me the following day after the interview and offered me the job! 

I accepted! So I am now the Director of Sales for NWAMotherlode.com!

We love to bring you the most awesome giveaways, mom news, recipes and much, much more. Mostly, we want the website to be a fun place to visit. In fact, our No. 1 priority and allegiance is to the community of moms who hang out with us here at Motherlode.
But we also have advertisers on our website (you know, those cute little ads you see on the right over there? Don’t forget to tell those business owners you saw their ad here!). Well, we looked up recently and realized we were so busy with the editorial side of things that we needed some help taking care of the advertisers.

Which leads us to this exciting announcement: We’ve added a brand new Director of Sales to join the Motherlode team! Welcome, Angela Hopkins!

Angela is a native Arkansan and a University of Arkansas grad. She’s lived in NWA for over 16 years and has been an avid Motherlode reader since the beginning (nearly five years ago, can you believe it?). She’s a blogger, mom of two and has lots of sales experience. We’re confident she’ll be able to take care of the local businesses who are interested in advertising on Motherlode.
Angela’s sales experience has mostly been in the finance world and she jokes that she was once a used car salesman
Angela, who leads a weekly Bible study for moms and serves as President of the Board of Child Development at her church, is also an organizational genius.
Our new sales queen is a huge networker and loves organizing events (which is great because we have a doozy of a par-tay coming up soon that we’ll tell you about SOON).
Angela says, “I love traveling, Zumba, theater, spending time with friends for a night out or just being home with my husband and boys!”
Angela has already hit the ground running and is reaching out to businesses that we believe NWA moms would love to know more about. Achievements for Christian

Hey everyone! Remember the Hopkins Household?!!! Ha! Well, it has been a SUPER busy spring and start to summer and I had no available time to update my blog. HOWEVER, I do plan to pick up where I left off (starting from January until July) and do LOTS of blog entries to get caught up. ;)

So let me begin....Christian has had an excellent 3rd grade year! We love his teacher and he received straight As Honor Roll and Citizenship Award! We are so proud of him!

He also led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Veteran's Day Ceremony in Bella Vista.

In Feburary, we attended Christian's Blue and Gold Banquet!

 I was on the event committee and we made the centerpieces and I did all the invitations!

All the boys were to bake a cake on their own for a cake contest! Christian choose a popcorn cake and put his pack #525 on it! He did an awesome job and it was a great event for our scouts!

Will and Alicia are engaged!

We are so happy for Jim's brother Will and his girlfriend Alicia!

They got engaged right after the new year!

Will proposed on Old Main lawn in Fayetteville and even coordinated having a photographer capture this special moment! AMAZING!

We are SO happy for them and they are getting married March 16th!

With the wedding coming up soon, they have been really busy planning the wedding and all the family is so excited!

New Year! New room!

It's almost the end of January and I am doing my first post for 2013! Whew! Jim and I spent our New Year's Eve at home with the boys and I couldn't have been happier! 

We wore party hats, played games and I made some yummy party food!

I started the month off with a makeover for Andrew's bedroom. He was outgrowing his toddler bed

and needing to move into a twin bed. So began shopping around for new furniture for his room. But before we could move in new funiture, I had to paint and replace the carpet. So I did all of this is a matter of a few days! 

The room before was bright yellow and green that matched all the decor that we had when Christian and Andrew were babies. We sold all the white furniture on Craigslist and that paid for the new carpet in both Andrew and Christian's rooms.

I got all the painting done in one day. It took two coats of blue and white to cover the old colors but it looks great! The carpet was installed a couple days later and the furniture delivered that same day too! Whew! I was glad when it all came together! While I was working on Andrew's room, he slept in Christian's room on the floor. It worked out a lot better than we expected! Andrew slept great those three nights. Christian did say he was glad when Andrew got his room back because he snored and woke him up a couple times. HAHA!

 

I kept all the Curious George decor I had in his room previously. I just had to get a new bedspread. 

Andrew is so proud of his new room! He couldn't wait to show it off when friends and family came over!
