Rice Cereal!

This past Sunday, we gave Andrew rice cereal for the first time!

Andrew is looking at me with a worried face saying..."Mom, what is about to happen???"

"Dad, what are you putting in my mouth?"


He was excited about this new idea of food!

Andrew enjoyed the rice cereal and has been doing better each time we feed him.

After posting these pictures, I decided to pull out Christian's scrapbook and look at the pictures when we gave Christian rice cereal. According to my scrapbook, he was 3 1/2 month old and he is wearing the exact same outfit Andrew has on! Crazy!

Busy week!

My mother-in-law sent me this card in the mail today. It is unbelievable how accurate it is! (except for the earache part) Thanks Ann for the sweet card! I LOVED it! :)

Monday, I actually went into work! My boss Stephanie had a couple people that were going to be out of the office on the trade floor, so she asked if I could fill in. I said SURE! Stephanie is the best boss ever and I am happy to help in any way I can. Plus, I was excited to get to see my co-workers again and catch up! (Oh yes, and work too. ha!) Even though it had been 6 months since I was at work, it was like I never left. I am staying on with ARVEST Asset Management as "seasonal" so I can fill in if ever necessary and it keeps me as an active employee and keeps my investment licenses current. That way, if and when I ever decide to go back to work full-time, I could just walk in the door and be ready to go!

Who watched Andrew you ask? Well, Jim played "Mister Mom" that day. Remember that movie from the 80s with Michael Keaton??!! Just like that except the baby did not eat any chili and I don't think Jim got hooked on any soap operas. ;)
Jim has the flexibility in his job to work from home on occasion with his work laptop so he did not have to use a vacation day. Jim took Christian to school and picked him up. Jim said he had a great time playing with Andrew and they even made up their own little "daddy and Andrew" game. So sweet!

And yes, Andrew is cutting three teeth right now. Today at lunch, the bottom front tooth was breaking through even more that his gums were bleeding. Poor little guy. But all I have to do is hold him, laugh and play peek-a-boo and he giggling up a storm!

I was also busy this week preparing for my first Mom's Ministry class of the fall semester! It was so great to see my familiar Thursday morning faces and so excited to see new faces too! We have 15 people in class this semester and we are going to start off by studying
"The Frazzled Female, Finding Peace in the Midst of Daily Life" by Cindi Wood. What a perfect study for me right now! Going from one kid to two has left me with a few "frazzled" moments!

We have a calm weekend ahead of us and I am excited about having no big plans. Looks like a quite weekend at home with all my boys!

Day on the lake!

Saturday, Pops, GoGo, and Kimberly came up to our house for lunch. It was such a beautiful day, we enjoyed lunch sitting on our deck outside. Then we headed to Beaver Lake to enjoy a day of boating! Uncle John came over from Tulsa to go with us too! Thanks to Hope for babysitting Andrew for us!

Christian was so excited to go out on the boat! He has really been into playing with boats, watching movies with boats or pirates, etc. He said he was the captain of the ship!
We explored all over Beaver Lake...checked out Rocky Branch marina, Hickory Creek to feed the fish and found some neat coves for water skiing and just hanging out.

I really enjoy water skiing even though I only get to do it maybe once a year! ;)

After spending the day on the boat, we headed to one of my favorite places, Monte Ne Chicken!
After dinner, Christian and I were so wore out! Christian fell asleep on the way home! I got home and took a shower and went straight to bed too! Beautiful weather and good times with family! What a great day!

August Girls Night Out!

Friday night was our August Girls Night Out! Me, Dara, Allison, Audrey, Susan, Mischelyn and Kellie headed out to dinner at Theo's on Dickson St.

After riding around in the limo, we enjoyed midnight snacks on the patio at Common Grounds! Pizza, chips and salsa, cheese dip and pizza sticks! Yum!

Andrew's 4 Month Check-up!

I took Andrew to his 4 month check-up after we dropped off Christian on his first day of school. Dr. Hill said he was doing great! He weighed 14lbs 11 oz and was 24.5 inches long! I told Dr. Hill I thought he was teething so she checked out his mouth and guess what??? He is getting 3 teeth right now! She could feel and see the corner of the bottom tooth (the one we discovered a few weeks ago) and he is getting two more on the top. It made me feel better that Dr. Hill could see the tooth that I thought had disappeared but I guess the gums did swell up after it broke through. So we have continued to give Andrew OraGel from time to time to help with the pain. I can tell it bothers him when he is tired. He just chews and chews on his fingers where the bumps are and he drools like crazy. Our new nickname for him is "drool bucket". Christian thinks it is funny. Dr. Hill also said we could try rice cereal at anytime. I think we may do that starting on Sunday. Christian started his rice cereal at four months and really seemed to like it.


Andrew got his second round of immunization shots and did great. He was not fussy that afternoon and slept well. He has been falling asleep around 6:30 or 7pm and he wakes around 10pm for a feeding then falls back to sleep until 6am. Yeah! There have been a few nights he sleeps from 10pm to 6am without waking up again which is nice. But most nights he will wake again around 1:30 or sometimes 3:30 and I put oragel on his gums and he falls back to sleep. Poor little guy!

Andrew's schedule has been great. He eats 4 to 6oz when he wakes up and is awake and plays for 1 1/2 to 2 hours then sleeps about 1 1/2 hours and that schedule continues throughout the day. Luckily he falls asleep in the car after we drop Christian off at school so I carry him in the house in his car seat and he will sleep until his next feeding. Then when the afternoon rolls around, he usually wakes up around 2pm and I get to feed him before we have to pick up Christian from school, which works out nicely.

Andrew is able to sit up on his own while propping himself up with his arms. But usually by the time I run and get the camera, he begins to fall over...TIMBER! Ha!

So far our first week of school has gone great! Christian is excited every morning and is doing good in class! When we drop him off outside the school, one of the teachers asked him, "Do you remember where your classroom is?" Christian replies, "Sure! I am up to the task!". So funny! He is definitely proven he is "up to the task" of kindergarten!

I can't believe it. Christian is now in Kindergarten!
Jim and I (along with Andrew of course) took Christian to his first day of school. Almost every parent was walking their kids into their first day of school. We had to park down the road on the grass and walk, but at least it was not raining like today! That would have been a mess!

Christian was so excited! But before we left, he had to have a pep talk with Andrew...

Christian said, "Now Andrew, I am going to kindergarten, but I won't be gone long." So sweet.

Well, I held it together while we walked in and dropped him off, but a few tears came as we walked out of the school. When we got home....it was so quiet. :) But 2:45 came quicker than expected. When we picked Christian up, he said he had fun and really liked eating in a cafeteria. At daycare, they just stayed in their classroom and ate. Looks like Christian really likes school so far!

Kindergarten Orientation Day!

Today we went to Cooper Elementary for Christian's Kindergarten orientation!

Christian stayed in his classroom to meet his teacher and get a tour of the school while Jim and I went to the cafeteria for parent orientation. We heard about everything he will learn this year, all the activities, etc. There are 7 kindergarten classes in his elementary school. He will have P.E. and art class once a week. He will have daily computer time too. I am so glad we have gotten him familiar with a computer already. We also learned how to pick up and drop off our children. Since NO children walk to this school, all kids arrive by either car or bus. The school explained their impressive system of dropping off and picking up over 120 children in 15 minutes without parents getting out of their cars. I can't wait to see how this works! After the orientation, Christian actually gave us a tour of the school. That kid has the best memory and sense of direction. :) And he learns so quickly!
All in all, it looks like he will have a fun-filled year of learning at Cooper Elementary!
