Garage Sale Weekend!

This past weekend, Jim and I had a garage sale. After clearing out our storage closets and redecorating our guest room, we had a ton of stuff to get rid of! Our total sales were $828! Rock on! Over $300 was big items like furniture pieces, but that's the most I have ever made on a garage sale! Christian was a big helper too. He got out his cash register and rang up everyone's items and checked them out. It was too cute and everyone got a kick out of it! We decided to open up Sunday afternoon and only had $50 in sales the second day, but the sun was out so we decided to have some fun in the sprinkler while we waited on customers!

Now that Christian is home with me all summer, we will be spending a lot of time outside! Now Christian can keep cool and play while I work on my tan. ;)

Baby Boot Camp update...

Many of you have asked how baby boot camp is going. We are doing better! Andrew can nap in his bouncer with no vibration. He is also been sleeping in his crib every night, eating somewhere between 11:30 and midnight, then again between 2 or 3am. He usually wakes up for the day at 7:00am. He eats and goes right back to sleep. The pacifier, however, is a different story. His first morning nap, he usually does not need it but as the day goes on, he fits for it in order to go to sleep. Luckily, as soon as he is asleep, I slip it out of his mouth and he keeps sleeping. Another issue we are about to deal with is weening him from breastfeeding. My milk supply has started to diminish. This happened with me when Christian was 3 months old. Andrew has taken to a bottle several times with no problems, which is great. So we are going to be working on going to all bottle feeding over the next week. However, yesterday he had a different idea. I went up to my office to visit the trade desk gang yesterday. He slept most of the time but woke up as scheduled ready to eat. But he decided he wanted NOTHING to do with the bottle, so I had to nurse him in my boss's office. Nice. But I have given him a bottle all day today every 3 or 3 1/2 hours and he has done great! Woohoo!

Ebay!

OK, so I am getting ready for my garage sale this Saturday but I have a few items that are "above" garage sale standards that I want to sell. I have decided to sell my Barbie collection, since I did not have a little girl to pass them down to. I am also selling a 1930s Shirley Temple doll that my grandma had in her attic most of my life. So I get online and do some research about what these things might be worth...HOLY COW! Some of my Barbies are selling for almost $200 a piece and the Shirley Temple doll...well, that could go for $250 or as much as $1,100! So I decided to give Ebay a shot. I have posted my Shirley Temple doll out there and put a reserve price on her, which means I don't have to sell it unless it hits that price...or higher. I only put it out there for 3 days and I have been checking the status daily. So far I have 15 people "watching" my item. This is the first time I have ever sold anything on Ebay. The anticipation of the bidding is pretty exciting! Come on Shirley...bring in the dough!

Wedding Weekend!

This past weekend, I attends two weddings in one day! The first was my friend Crissy and Jason's wedding. I was a bridesmaid along with Hope and Kaity. It was a wonderful day to have a wedding. The girls came over to my house Saturday morning and we got ready while the lovely and talent photographers Kim Lowery and Rachel Cornett did their magic with the camera!
The wedding was at 2pm at Mildred Cooper Chapel and it was a beautiful ceremony and the reception was at Metfield Clubhouse, which is right next to my house. :)
After Crissy's wedding, Jim and I headed to Matt Hall and Kelly Eddington's wedding in Fayetteville at First Christian Church at 6:30pm. The reception was held at Pratt Place Barn, which was AWESOME! I told Jim I wanted to have our 15 or 20 year "renewing of our vows" reception there! ha!

We had a great time--good food and good friends!

Proud Big Brother!

A few weeks ago, we had our first family pictures taken. All I can say is it is a lot harder to have four people look at the camera than three...especially when one is a baby. :) But it was fun and we got a some good shots...and some not so good ones....take a look!

Let Them Be Little...

Andrew turned 7 weeks old yesterday. He is already 11 pounds! I looked at Christian's baby book this morning and Christian was 14 pounds at 2 months and was sleeping through the night at 7 1/2 weeks! Well, Andrew's not there yet, but as they say, your second child can be a lot different from your first. We are experiencing a bit of that with Andrew. We have faced a few more challenges with Andrew than with Christian. Andrew is more fussy than Christian but Christian hardly ever cried, so maybe Andrew is just normal??!! ha! Andrew has also developed an addiction to a pacifier which Christian never did. This is both a good and a bad thing. Good for when you can get him to stop fussing but bad when it falls out (a LOT) and he fusses without it. So as I told Jim this morning, I am going to put Andrew through "baby boot camp". :) Another challenge we are going to overcome is overnight feedings. I have been feeding him in bed with me at night, but sometimes (due to sheer exhaustion) I fall sleep and so does he. Then I wake up later, and realize he is still lying next to me and I have no idea how much he ate and what time we fell asleep. NOT GOOD! I remember doing this with Christian and at this point too, and then beginning to get up and feed him in his glider and then lying him down in his crib. So time to do so with Andrew as well. The other challenge is when I am awake enough to lay him down in his bassinett after eating at night, he has a hard time falling back asleep. If he is already asleep and I lay him down, it's all good, but if he wakes up, GAME OVER. So then we begin the pacifier "game" as I call it and as soon as he sucks on it, he is good and falls right to sleep. But unfortunately, it will pop out of his mouth and he begins fussing all over again. This can go on and on through the night to the point sleep is no longer an option for me. So I am looking again to BabyWise for its wisdom that helped me so much with Christian. But for starters, no more pacifier at night!
Andrew is still my little sweet pea! He smiled through his entire bath last night and it was the cutest thing! He loves to go outside! I also may be spoiling him a bit because I love to hold him all the time too. Just knowing he is our last baby, I savor each moment! It's like the song "Let Them Be Little" (which is on my playlist that I just added to the blog at the right side of the page) which is one of the sweetest songs! Though I don't like country music a whole lot, they played this song when Christian walked down the aisle at his preschool graduation and every mom in the place began to cry...including me! Take a listen to the song...

Andrew also likes to be on his tummy more than Christian ever did. So I got him a new "tummy time" mat to lay on.

We also practice sitting up throughout the day! He does really well!

As I type out this update to the blog, Andrew has fallen asleep in his bouncer with no vibration and no pacifier for the second time today! Baby Boot Camp is going well so far....
